古代有一个人名叫朱平漫，他一心想让自己无所不能，什么技巧都想学上一招。他总是对自己说：“我是个勤奋刻苦的人，而且脑子也不笨，我相信我一定能够学到许多技巧。一般的技巧很容易学上手的，以后还有时间和机会，还是先学最难的吧。”

    他这样想着，就决定先学杀龙，普天之下会杀龙的，敢于杀龙的又有几个人呢？他为自己的勇敢和胆识兴奋不已，决心不学到真本事绝不回来。

    他听说支离益最会杀龙，于是立刻变卖了全部家产，不远千里寻访支离益，好不容易找到了他，就拜他为师。

    支离益说：“现在我已经不收徒弟了，更何况以后你也许根本就用不上……”

    朱平漫苦苦哀求：“我千里迢迢赶来，就是为了跟您学一身好技艺……”

    “那你还不如学点其他的东西，比如木匠、泥瓦匠什么的，不是很好吗？”老人又说。

    “那些东西会的人太多了，也没什么希奇的，再说我以后也可以学。” 朱平漫说完，就跪下，“如果您不愿意收我为徒，我就长跪不起！”

    老人无奈，只好同意了。

    每到过年，师父总会劝说他：“你还是学一些更为实用，更有意义的技术吧！”朱平漫总是说等学会了自然走。

    过了五年，他自认为学得了一身高超的杀龙本领，于是谢师回乡。

    回到家乡，他得意地向父老乡亲们讲述自己靠着诚心打动了师父，现在学得了一身精湛的技艺。人们都很好奇他学到的杀龙技术，纷纷要求他表演一番。他就连讲说带比划，表演杀龙的技术给大家看。他一会跳起来，说：“我这是在抓龙头，它肯定会左摇右摆。”一会他又翻身一跃，大声说：“我已经跳到龙身上了！”接着他就扭动身体，一会左，一会儿右，就像一个喝醉酒的人。最后他满头大汗地扬起手臂，猛地用力，叫着说：“我的刀已经刺入了龙颈……”

    旁边的人笑着冲他说：“我看你像一个耍猴的人！”

    人们哄堂大笑。他不以为然地说：“这是杀龙之术，不是你们这些平常人能看得明白的。”

    这个时候，走过来一位长者，他说：“小伙子，虽然你学了这两下子，但是你上哪儿去找龙杀呢？”

    朱平漫猛然一惊，对啊！早已经没有龙了，到哪里去杀龙呢？自己学了一身技艺，但是却毫无用处，白费这么多年的心血啊！

    修身养性：有的人不是没有成就大业的能力，而是他们把目标定在没有意义或者不切实际的事情上，这样只是虚掷岁月。所以，做事之前必须通盘考虑，想透之后，再作决定，这样才能做到有的放矢，不蹉跎岁月
